Erik Fetter and Márton Dina, two Hungarian riders for the 2020 project of the Kometa Cycling Team

The third season of the Alberto Contador Foundation in the continental category continues with its preparations. With the signing of Sergio García and the Italian Alessandro Fancellu confirmed, the new Kometa Cycling Team also incorporates the young Hungarian rider Erik Fetter. Coming from Pannon Cycling Team, Fetter joins his compatriot Márton Dina, who joined the squad last June and will continue to be linked to the Madrid squad next season.

The new rider of the Kometa Cycling Team (Budapest April 5, 2000) has also been forged in the world of mountain biking, where he won the national junior championship in 2018. That same year he won the Short Track Cross Country (XCC) of the Youth Olympic Games held in Buenos Aires (Argentina). During the year 2019 he has focused for the first time on the route, taking part in the last edition of the Tour de l´Avenir with his selection. In the gala round, Fetter finished 53rd. In both the Tour of Hungary and the Romanian Sibiu Tour he finished 17th overall.

“With this signing a childhood dream comes true”, proclaims Fetter. “Of course, joining a team of such a high level was something that seemed quite distant to me. But all the work and dedication has paid off. Right now I can’t wait for the new year to come and I can compete with the team. My goal is to train little by little and reach the WorldTour. I am convinced that this team is a great step on this road after having faced my first year on the road”.

“Right now I would say that I am an all-terrain cyclist, because I can climb well and I also defend myself as a sprinter. But it is going to be in the next few years that it will be much clearer in which discipline I develop better”, he assesses. “I’ve known him for many years”, adds Márton Dina. “He is a charming, friendly and humble boy. He is a very complete rider who defends well in several fields. His good results being so young invite to think that he has a very beautiful future ahead”.

Dina (Budapest, 11 April 1996) continues in the squad after arriving for the second half of the season and set very good performances. In the Vuelta a Hungary he finished second in the overall final, while in the Vuelta a Burgos he managed to finish within the top-20 final despite starting the race weighed down by a fall at the end of the first stage.

“I am very happy to be able to continue my career in the Kometa Cycling Team. I really love the atmosphere here, I feel very good with my teammates and also with all the members of the staff. It is the best team for me, the best formation to continue growing as a cyclist. I’m very grateful for the confidence and for this opportunity,” said Dina.

Ivan Basso, sports manager of the Kometa Cycling Team: “Our project with Hungarian cycling continues to strengthen year after year. We are working hard in scouting to involve new talents in the Foundation’s sports project. We are very grateful to Der Zsolt, federative technician, who works very closely with us and gives us many tips on cyclists to follow. Dina is a rider who has already shown during the time he has been with us that he has a high level and I am convinced that he can improve even more. It’s going to be his first full season and I’m very confident about his growth. Fetter is a bit younger, but he also has a lot, a lot, a lot of talent and we are confident that he will grow a lot in our team. You have to be patient because he’s young”.
