Fortunato shines in the shortened stage

The queen stage, which in reality was not queen. The decision came in the morning: the bad weather conditions, the descent from Fedaia considered dangerous because of the ice, the choice was to change the route removing two GPM (Fedaia and Pordoi) with the Passo Giau that becomes the new Cima Coppi of the Giro. From the 212 km planned, the route is reduced to 153. It must be said that there was no lack of spectacle: with an attack that started on the first climb, 24 riders were protagonists, including our Dina and Fortunato. On the following descent six riders left while in the group Ineos set the pace and claimed victims (Evenepoel jumped, arriving more than 20′ late) to prepare the attack of Bernal who arrived punctually on Giau. The pink jersey flew and arrived alone in Cortina, putting his hands on the Giro.

And ours? Splendid, once again, Lorenzo Fortunato: 22nd at 8’24”, and now in the general classification he is 21’07” from Bernal. Not bad, right?

Lorenzo Fortunato: “We went into a breakaway on the first climb, I felt that I had a good leg so I tried, we were a good group, then on the descent the group broke and behind we did not find the agreement and the group caught us. I’m happy because on Giau I had very good feelings, satisfied: every day I’m better, I want to reconfirm in the next week what I did in the last days”.
