“The case of Slovenian cycling should be an example for cycling in Hungary”

One of the great riches of cycling is found in its calendar and in the heritage it possesses. Few activities offer such a wide range of important events that have taken place year after year for decades, if not centuries. In this sense, the Grande Partenza of the next Giro d’Italia is going to turn Hungary, for several days, into one of the great media spotlights of the spring world panorama.

Three stages will be played entirely on Magyar soil, as it has been known for a few months; an unprecedented event that seeks to stimulate the bases of this sport in a latitude in which it has history (its Tour of Hungary dates back to 1925 and the second edition of the World Championships took place in the streets of Budapest back in 1928), but in which there has also been a lack of continuity.

Márton Dina and Erik Fetter, riders of the Kometa Cycling Team, did not want to miss the presentation of the official corporate image of this Great Start, which took place in Budapest a few days ago, and are actively collaborating with promotional activities that have now taken them to Szekesfehervár. At these events, both are highlighting the future implications of this firm commitment to cycling.

“Surely it will serve to open us up to the world and to show that we have many talented riders here”, defends Márton Dina. “In a few years, I am convinced, Hungarian cycling will be able to compete against Italian, French, Spanish or, there is the one that should be a great example for us, the Slovenian. Slovenian cycling should be an example for Hungary.

A 9.5 km prologue on the streets of Budapest, a 193 km stage to Gyor and a 197 km stage to Nagykanizsa will make up the Hungarian journey of the first of the three major laps of the season.
