Diego Pablo Sevilla, victoria y liderato en la Copa de España
El madrileño Diego Pablo Sevilla se anotó el triunfo en la segunda prueba de la Copa de España junior, disputada hoy en Sant Boi, lo que le ha valido también el liderato en la general provisional, gracias a su cuarto puesto en la carrera de Vila-Real, que ganó el fin de semana anterior su compañero Enric Mas, noveno hoy.
La carrera, con salida en Navás y meta en Sant Boi, ha exigido un duro trabajo al equipo Specialized-Fundación Alberto Contador para controlar, ya que se formaron dos grupos muy numerosos por delante, con una treintena de corredores cada uno, en los que no logró meterse el líder de la Copa de España, Enric Mas.
El excelente trabajo de los hombres de José Luis de Santos, entre otros con Álvaro Cuadros, Cristian Torres y Iosu Angoitia sacrificándose por el equipo, dio sus frutos, al tiempo que Fran Pérez y Juanjo Pazos, que se habían ido por delante, pararon también para echar una mano y conseguir finalmente la reunificación del pelotón.
Por delante estuvo mucho tiempo escapado Juan Camacho (Castillo de Onda), que fue cazado a falta de 10 kilómetros, momento en el que contratacó su compañero Carretero, a quien siguió Diego Pablo Sevilla.
La escapada de estos dos hombres logró su propósito de llegar a meta y, en el sprint, Sevilla logró una bonita victoria sobre Carretero que le vale también el liderato en la Copa de España, seguido también del segundo hoy, Carretero, y de Enric Mas, tercero.
El éxito en Sant Boi lo completó Miguel Ángel Ballesteros en Castalla, donde a pesar de correr solo también consiguió un meritorio triunfo. El Specialized-Fundación Alberto Contador correrá el próximo fin de semana en Candás y Gijón, esta última tercera prueba puntuable de la Copa de España.
