El equipo culminó su dominio en el Trofeo Victor Cabedo

El Flex-Fundación Alberto Contador repitió su actuación del pasado fin de semana imponiéndose también en las dos últimas y decisivas etapas del Trofeo Víctor Cabedo, la del sábado una contra reloj por equipos y la última, hoy domingo, primera prueba puntuable para la Copa de España, que ganó Miguel Ángel Alcaide, triunfando de nuevo al sprint.

Los juniors dirigidos por Félix García Casas iniciaron el fin de semana con una participación arrolladora en la crono por equipos, en la que alinearon el mencionado Alcaide junto a Fernando Barceló, Miguel Ángel Ballesteros, Ángel Fuentes, Juan Bou, Juanjo Pazos, Fran Pérez y Guillem Cassú.

El equipo tomó la salida en último lugar, dada su condición de líderes, y logró marcar el mejor registro, batiendo por 8 segundos al Castillo de Onda, y mejorando en 3 su tiempo del año pasado, sobre el mismo recorrido de 9,4 kilómetros. Alcaide, aunque salió como líder provisional, se descolgó durante la etapa, por lo cual se hizo con el maillot Fernando Barceló, segundo clasificado.

Hoy, sobre un trazado rápido pero exigente a la vez, con tres puertos puntuables, se corrió la cuarta y última etapa, puntuable también para la Copa de España de la categoría. El equipo, una vez más, salió a controlar la carrera y estar presente en todas las escapadas, cosa que se logró hasta que, tras el último paso de montaña quedó un grupo de unos 50 corredores entre los que resistió Miguel Ángel Alcaide, el más rápido del Flex-Fundación Contador.

El equipo volvió a apostar por él para un final al sprint y el toledano no defraudó, convirtiéndose también en el primer líder de la Copa de España. Por su parte, Fernando Barceló consiguió el triunfo en la general final del Trofeo Cavedo, donde también ganó las clasificaciones de mejor joven y mejor valenciano Juan Bou y Miguel Ángel Ballesteros ocupó la tercera plaza del podio, tras Jaume Sureda. El Flex-Fundación Alberto Contador, tras ganar las cuatro etapas de la prueba también se proclamó vencedor por equipos.

The Flex- Alberto Contador Foundation culminated its dominance in the Victor Cabedo Trophy

The Flex-Alberto Contador Foundation repeated its performance of last weekend by winning also the last two decisive stages on Victor Cavedo Trophy, on Saturday a team time trial and the last, on Sunday, the first race of Spanish Cup, which won Miguel Angel Alcaide, triumphing back at sprint.

Today, on a fast but challenging parcours, with three climbs, was the fourth and final stage, also scoring for the Cup of Spain of this category. The team once again came to control the race and was present at all breaks, which was achieved until after the last mountain pass, where was in front a group of about 50 riders, including Miguel Ángel Alcaide, the Flex-Foundation fast rider.

The team returned to bet on him for a final sprint and the rider from Toledo did not disappoint, becoming also the first leader of the Cup of Spain. Meanwhile, Fernando Barceló got the victory in the overall Cavedo Trophy, where also won as best young rider and best Valencian Joan Bou, while Miguel Angel Ballesteros occupied the third place at the podium, behind Jaume Sureda. The Flex-Alberto Contador Foundation, after winning the four stages of the race, was also proclaimed the winner team.
