Carlos Rodríguez, Raúl García and Fernando Tercero, representation ‘Kometa’ in the fight for the rainbows of Yorkshire

2019 World Cycling Championships
Yorkshire (Great Britain), from 22 to 29 September

Andalusian Carlos Rodríguez, Raúl García from Madrid and Fernando Tercero from La Mancha are the three riders of the Kometa Cycling Team finally summoned by the youth coach Paco Cerezo to compete in the next World Cycling Championships in Yorkshire, which will be held in Great Britain between 22 and 29 September.

The youth races will take place on 23rd and 26th September. On Tuesday 23rd the time trial will take place, while on Thursday the long distance road race will take place. Carlos Rodríguez and Fernando Tercero will participate in the first race, while Rodríguez, Raúl García, Juan Ayuso from Alicante and Igor Arrieta from Navarre will compete in the route, where Spain has four participants.

The time trial will take place over 28 kilometres resulting from two laps of a 14-circuit with a broken profile and two differentiated parts: one much more winding and twisty and the other, on the road to Beckwithshaw and also on the rear terrain, where straight lines predominate. The arrival, on Parliament Street, itches upwards.

The online race will be 148 kilometres long, an unusual distance in the category. The riders will take the start in Richmond and cover just over 100 kilometres before reaching the Harrogate circuit, to which they will complete three laps. On that journey to the circuit, the pack will enter Yorkshire Dales National Park and face the ascents of Kidstones Bank and Summerscales.

“I’m very motivated because it’s the most important race on the junior calendar and I’m feeling pretty good. The days in the Vuelta a Valencia have given me an extra both in form and confidence that will serve me in what comes next. The route seems to me to be a leg-breaker, it doesn’t totally adapt to my characteristics; but it doesn’t do me any harm either and if luck accompanies it, I think I’ll be able to be ahead”, adds Carlos Rodríguez.
