Andrea Pietrobon is progressing favourably after the serious crash he suffered on Wednesday in the Giro del Veneto

85º Giro del Veneto
Padova-Vicenza (159,8 km)

A big scare that fortunately came to nothing. Andrea Pietrobon, Italian rider of the U23 structure of the Contador Foundation, stagiaire with the EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team Pro Team in this second part of the season, is recovering in the hospital of Vicenza from the injuries of the serious crash that he suffered during his participation in the last edition of the Giro del Veneto, this Wednesday.

Pietrobon, who was riding in the day’s breakaway as he did in the recent Gran Piemonte, suffered a fall after losing control of his bike on a stretch of gravel on the road and crashing violently into the guardrail of the road. Pietrobon remained motionless, which initially set off all the alarm bells. The rider, conscious at all times, was rushed to Vicenza hospital with severe bruising to his back and legs and spent the night under observation.

The rider, who has already been discharged from hospital, suffers small fractures in several vertebrae and ribs, which will force him to remain in absolute rest for a month. No cycling or rolling for the next few weeks.
