Another podium, but tomorrow will be different
It is Maikel Zijlard, of VOLKERWESSELS CYCLINGTEAM, the winner of the second stage of the Tour of South Bohemia. Third place went to our Vincenzo Albanese.
Biagio Conte: “Today was a very eventful stage, the route in these areas is never smooth and between narrow roads and continuous curves it becomes treacherous, nervous because you always have to ride in front and carefully. Difficult to manage such a race, because there are no radios and it is difficult to communicate with the guys except when they come at the back of the group. Today we missed the start when we should have controlled the stage and not let too many riders go, and that was not done. So we had to put some guys up front to pull, and then on the last lap we had Albanese and Fetter move and they were able to make some selection. Albanese then did well in the sprint, bringing home a good third place. Let’s think about tomorrow: pay attention to the roads, and pay attention to race management. We will try to be present in the breakaway, and then to win.”
