Bais in green jersey after a wonderful breakaway with Gavazzi

A ride of more than 200 kilometers, an action wanted and studied, a breakaway that has seen Davide Bais and Francesco Gavazzi as protagonists. First, together with other 5 riders, then the two of them alone.

To conquer the KOM of the day and the first green jersey of this Tirreno-Adriatico with Bais, who thanks to a sprint at three kilometers from the KOM passed in solitary, before being reached by Gavazzi to continue in a wonderful couple towards the finish line of Sovicille. The two were caught at 18 km from the arrival (after Gavazzi conquered the flying finish line), with the sprinters’ teams that did not want to miss the final sprint (Merlier won).

A wonderful day for EOLO-KOMETA. One of those to remember. Tomorrow Bais will wear the green jersey, and this race could not start better…

DAVIDE BAIS: “To say that I’m happy is little, and above all I’m happy because we managed to do what we had prepared. Gavazzi was very good, before the GPM I tried to go away and it went well, very well indeed. Now the goal is to keep the jersey as much as possible: I’m not a pure climber, but I’ll do my best to defend it starting tomorrow. In the meantime, I thank the whole team: I believe that our sponsors are happy, for the many hours on TV that we have been able to do today!”.
