25° Giro di Sicilia
Stage 2: Selinunte – Mondello (173 km)

The sprint had to be and the sprint was. With Molano, very favored on such an arrival, who repeated yesterday’s success confirming himself as leader of the general classification of the Giro di Sicilia at the end of the second stage (Selinunte Mondello). Excellent fifth place for our Manuel Belletti, while Vincenzo Albanese kept the leader’s jersey in the youth classification.

Wonderful stage, the one of yesterday, with Sicily that has been able to offer the best of itself with breathtaking landscapes full of history and beauty: the climb of Portella della Ginestra, the passage from Capaci, the glide over Palermo. A stage arrived at the sprint, which has experienced the classic breakaway of the day ended just over 20 km from the finish, before the sprint dominated by Molano. Attention to tomorrow’s stage: it will start to climb, before the grand finale on Friday: the general classification is still open, the desire to dream has never been lacking.

Vincenzo Albanese: “I really like this Giro di Sicilia, it’s one of the few races in which I can enjoy not only the effort but also the wonderful landscape. I continue to feel good, so I will continue to try: tomorrow’s stage is more challenging, the goal is to keep the white jersey and … then we’ll see. Today’s sprint? I lost a few positions two kilometers from the end and I wasn’t able to recover, but it’s okay. My leg is good, let’s see what the next stages have in store for us”.
