César Pérez and Nil Aguilera, who went on the attack on the climb to the Côte d’Hières, finished the day in the leading group

Ain Bugey Valromey Tour 2022
Stage 2: Saint-Victor-de-Morestel – Morestel (98,2 km)

Frenchman Collin Savioz (Team Mixed Charvieu-Chavagneux IC-La Motte-Servolex) won Thursday’s second stage of the Ain Bugey Valromey Tour where he made an attack in the last ten kilometres when a large group had grouped together at the head. In that group the EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team was represented by César Pérez (31st) and Nil Aguilera (52nd).

Aguilera had his share of protagonism with a movement in the ascent to the Côte d’Hières, a first orographic difficulty of the day that he crowned in second position and after which he insisted to catch the then in head Roman Ermakov, Russian of the Cannibal Team. Aguilera ended up being neutralised with 46 kilometres to go.

On that climb, David Puente suffered, who fell off the pace and began to lose time. The Cantabrian, physically weakened, ended up retiring later. Álex García, for his part, finished the day in a later group. “I started to get cramps all over and I had to get off the bike, I couldn’t take it anymore”. Frenchman Noa Isidore, winner of the first stage, remains at the head of the provisional general standings of a race that faces a very important climb on Friday.
