XX Challenge Montaña Central de Asturias
Stage 1: Figaredo – Figaredo (97,5 km)

The Challenge Montaña Central started with a first afternoon stage in which the Cantabrian David Puente, fourth, was the best classified among the riders of the youth team of the Contador Foundation. An initial fraction in which won the Asturian Hugo de la Calle, who arrived slightly ahead of a leading group in turn split into several after the passage through Carabanzo.

The race took place at high speed, essentially grouped together despite numerous breakaway attempts, all of them more or less fleeting (Balasz Pollner was one of the team riders involved in these skirmishes).

A numerous crash occurred in the last fifteen kilometres, with the riders flying towards the climb to Carabanzo, and it involved the Hungarian Balint Feldhoffer, although he was able to continue without major difficulty. Lucas Guillermo and Joel Díaz crossed the finish line eleventh and twelfth, respectively, 22 seconds behind the winner.

For this Saturday, a double sector. In the morning, team time trial. In the afternoon, a semi-stage in line with the ascent of the Faya de los Lobos, perhaps the great pass of this edition, crowned ten kilometres from the finish. A day to make the general classification much clearer.
