Excellent victory of Polartec Junior Team in the Vuelta al Besaya’s TTT

The Polartec Junior team culminated its participation in the Vuelta al Besaya with an excellent victory in the team time trial played on the second race day, in which imposed its potential against all rivals.

With a sextet integrated by great specialists such as Joan Martí Bennassar, Marc Brustenga, Maties Gornals and Hugo Sampedro, seconded by three more climbers, but of high quality, such as Carlos García, David Cabezas and Pol Hernández, the team of Felix García Casas marked an unbeatable time on the flat 10 km of Reinosa course. “The key was the order in the relays, which the riders maintained in a phenomenal way, and the power of the team, as the course, as well as flat, was not technical either”, explained the sports director.

“It was an exhibition, because the differences were great regarding the first classified and that was worth to us to put ahead Hugo Sampedro, the best one in the provisional GC”, continued García Casas. Unfortunately, this edition of Vuelta al Besaya, apart of winning the TTT, was not fortunate for the general clasification, since Carlos García came with a cold that prevented him from fighting with the best and Pol Hernández, for his part, is still recovering from an annoying tendonitis.

All responsibility fell on Hugo Sampedro, who despite his good performance in the first two days of the race, could not maintain the second place of the GC in the last and hardest stage, in which, however, Carlos García demonstrated a good recovery and was about to get the victory, being hunted only in the last kilometer and finishing this last stage in fourth position.
