Fancellu finishes in the top-15 on the final stage in Hungary

Tour de Hongrie (2.1)
Stage 5: Miskolc – Kekestetö (188km)

Nice closing of the competition in Hungary for EOLO Kometa, with David Martin taking advantage of a stage that did not suit his skills to look for the breakaway. They got a small gap, but they had a leading role until the peloton caught them with 20km to go.

Alessandro Fancellu gave his all in search of the first places on the final climb. He was not far from his goal with 16th place at the finish line in front of the big climbers. Learning and signs of growth for the Italian rider, that’s the way.

From start to finish, Marton Dina was able to defend his best Hungarian jersey. A prize in Kometa’s house and in Marton’s own house. A great result to round off the Tour of Hungary.

Alessandro Fancellu: “I was expecting a full gas start. Fortunately it wasn’t like that and the breakaway was made before the first climb. David was fantastic getting into the breakaway and in the peloton we rode at a steady pace until the foot of the last climb. On the climb Diego, Mark and I were well placed in front and with 3 kilometres to go, INEOS opened the gas and we all climbed at our own pace. I’m quite happy because it’s been months since I’ve seen myself at the front in the last kilometres, so yes, I’m satisfied to be getting back in shape little by little”.
