The porticoes that lead up from Bologna to the top of San Luca are the longest in the world and, together, also the most beautiful. A magical place, a beautiful city: but at the same time a tough climb for the arrival of a race that becomes more and more important every year. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the Giro dell’Emilia.
Just by looking at the starters, you can see how much the race that will start from Carpi and arrive in Bologna after 204.1 is now an appointment of the highest level: there will be Adam and Simon Yates, there will be Mas and there will be Roglic, there will be Vlasov and there will be Pogacar, there will be Hindley and Sivakov but also Pinot. And we will also be there from EOLO KOMETA: here is Fortunato, who went very strong here last year and who races on his home roads, and here is Mattia Bais with Garosio, Alex Martìn, Piganzoli, Sevilla and the stagist De Cassan.
The route will see the start from Piazza dei Martiri in Carpi, to arrive at the first climb of the day in Samone (6 km at 6.7%) and after a series of ups and downs the group will face a ring with the tough climb of Monte Nonascoso. We will then throw ourselves towards Bologna to face the 5 climbs in San Luca, which will eventually make themselves felt very much in the legs of the group: on the final finish line, there will be only a few to play for the final victory. We hope to be there as well.
“This,” says sport director Stefano Zanatta, “is a very beautiful race but also a very tough one, given the quality of the group that will show up at the start and will do battle until the end: we are coming to the last races of the season, and everyone wants to seek victory. What I can say is that we want to look for it too, or at least we want to have a good race as we are doing in these last weeks.”
