Good final result in the Challenge de Mallorca

The closing of the Challenge de Mallorca proposed the traditional route around the island with a spoiled breakaway, in which EOLO Kometa had no representation, and a final part with the ascent to sa Creu and the circuit that selected the main peloton.

The more than six minutes of the leading breakaway began to be reduced by the work of the sprinters’ teams, while EOLO Kometa sought to protect its position and its leader Lonardi.

However, despite saving the climb, the strong air and the speed in the final part of the race made for a very crazy finish where the sprint could not be contested. The crashes and the tension were avoided, and the team is already thinking about the next competitive events with the satisfaction of a job well done.

Jesús Hernández: “We saved the last day with a very chaotic sprint finish. The truth is that more riders have passed the hard part than we thought compared to other occasions. We couldn’t get a good position at the finish, but I’ll keep the good feeling of the whole week. We have done a great job as a team, I have seen commitment, all together, helping each other, motivated and with high morale thanks to the victory in Valencia and Albanese’s third place on the first day here in Mallorca. We have to take it step by step but we are on the right track”.

Giovanni Lonardi: “”In the end it came out a pretty smooth race, we took the last climb in front all together and in the final circuit of Palma we were a tight group. Everything was going well but at 700 meters my chain fell off and I could not make the sprint: that’s how it went”.
