This is a race that has made history in the sport. For 60 years, the wild inland and the beautiful sea of Liguria have welcomed the appointment that marks the beginning of the Italian calendar: a roll of honor filled to the brim with champions, a demanding course with the four climbs of the legendary Colla Micheri, a group of starters made up of strong riders. The menu is served: everyone will want to add their name on the “little wall” of the Ligurian city, where the signatures of all the winners are kept.
We from EOLO KOMETA will be there too, of course: and we will be there to try all the way with a strong and fit team. The experience of Gavazzi who knows this race very well, the condition of Fortunato who is doing great things on Spanish soil, the desire of Davide Bais always on the attack since the beginning of the season, the freshness of Fancellu, Piganzoli, Raccani and Garosio who are eager to show off.
Alessandro Fancellu: “I’ve never raced Laigueglia: I’ve always seen it, I’ve always liked it, last year I was supposed to do it but then I was stopped by Covid. I’m glad to finally do it. It will be a very nervous race, the level of starters will be very high as always and we will see what role the directors will assign me. I’ve been training very well, I’ve been working a lot on my home roads and I’m happy to be racing in Italy again.”
Stefano Zanatta: “We know that this is the first race in Italy, so we want to make a good impression. We come out of two races in Spain like Andalucia and Gran Camino where the team showed good condition and moved well with presence in the breakaways and with Fortunato pedaling with the best on the climbs. Fortunato will be in Liguria along with Gavazzi and Bais, and then we are also waiting for the youth group to have some freshness.”
Lineup: Davide Bais, Alessandro Fancellu, Lorenzo Fortunato, Andrea Garosio, Francesco Gavazzi, Davide Piganzoli, Simone Raccani.
