Martín and Maestri look for the sprint in the Palma Trophy of the Challenge of Mallorca

The closing of the Challenge de Mallorca was resolved in the final 20 kilometres of the circuit along the seaside of Palma. Speed, a lot of strength and ambition in search of a good result with David Martín well placed, looking for the wheel of the best sprinters. The last complicated turn 500 metres from the finish line threw the main group off the pace and the blue Martín and Maestri were just outside the top-15.

It has been five days of difficult competition due to the weather conditions, but in which EOLO KOMETA has looked for protagonism with the breakaways of Mirco Maestri, outstanding in the Trofeo Calvià; Alessandro Fancellu who looked for protagonism on the way to Alcúdia; or Mattia Bais in a breakaway of the Trofeo Andratx but who suffered a fall without consequences in the Sierra de Tramuntana.

Jesús Hernández: “It was a very fast last day, we tried with David Martín and Mirco Maestri although many times the sprint finishes are about luck. It’s difficult to fight with the big teams that are well organised with a bunch of riders that are very hard to beat. It’s time to think about the next objectives in order to get good results in the Spanish races that will mark the whole month of February”.
