Muñoz and Bais, splendid at Bernocchi

Coppa Bernocchi (1.Pro)

Legnano – Legnano (190.7 km)

A sun that feels like summer, illuminating a city happy to welcome the world of cycling. Around here, it’s not just a sport: it’s almost a religion, a popular festival, a time to be together. This was the Coppa Bernocchi, this and much more: also for us at EOLO KOMETA. Because in this what has been a tough race, with a group chock-full of World Tour teams and a hellish pace from the start, there have been some beautiful things. Take our own Fran Munoz, for example: in his first race in the Pro world as a staigaire, he had no fear and went for the day’s breakaway. “I was asked to go in the breakaway,” he said, “and that’s what I did: sure, racing here is very hard but also beautiful. I’m happy for me and for giving some visibility to the team: now, I’m waiting for next time!”

And then, the finale: with a sprint set up by the strongest formations that fielded the best sprinters, and our guys great at showing off. Gavazzi’s experience was instrumental in guiding Davide Bais and putting him in the best conditions to play the sprint: an important and non-trivial eighth place. “I have to thank Gava,” Bais said immediately after the finish, “who protected me until the last kilometer. Then, I gave everything even if in the last corner we risked falling: the leg is good, I’m happy with the placement also taking into account the riders who came in front and behind me. Now, the head is to the Three Valleys tomorrow.”
