Neither breakaway nor sprint

Tour de Hongrie (2.1)
Stage 4: Kazincbarcika – Kazincbarcika (177 km)

23 kilometres. That was the distance to the finish line when the breakaway of the day, without the presence of EOLO Kometa, was neutralised. At that moment, the race began in search of the position to fight the sprint. In search of improving David Martín’s 10th place in yesterday’s stage. The route, with roundabouts, curves and a very tight group, did not allow the Andalusian rider to place well and he was left out of the places of honour. Tomorrow’s stage will decide the general classification of this Tour of Hungary.

Sean Yates: “We wanted to be in the breakaway with Marton or David. Marton to fight for the best climber’s jersey, because there were several passes today and it wasn’t far away. We couldn’t get in and we tried to focus on the sprint with David. With 3 kilometres to go Bevilacqua, who was the man who could help David, had a puncture and he had to fight for his life but it was very difficult, he is a very young rider and here are some of the best sprinters in the world. It’s very difficult to fight against his “braids”, but I’m sure this will help him to improve. For tomorrow’s stage we’ll try to get in the breakaway”.
