Spanish Track Cycling Championships
Tafalla (Navarra) from 23 to 27 September
The young Majorcan Francesc Bennassar continued his good time in these Spanish Championships of Cycling in Track by winning his second gold medal in the Miguel Indurain velodrome.
The Marratxí cyclist became national champion in the elimination race in his category, ahead of his fellow countryman Marc Terrasa and the Catalan Marcel Pallarés. Bennassar was one of the great protagonists in the development of the race, keeping himself in the vanguard at all times.
“The race has been very fast from the beginning, it is a sprint race all the time. There was a moment when I started to see that things were getting tense, I was looking strong and I started to pull to keep the race under control. In the end, when there were four riders left, I decided to start, I was able to go alone and win by myself”, he explains.
