Davide Piganzoli

Piganzoli, the second in a family of three brothers, is a native of Valtellina, in the same town of Morbegno where his teammate (team and training partner) Francesco Gavazzi comes from. It was there that he took his first steps, “I was eight years old. My father is very passionate about cycling and he also rides a bicycle. He bought me a bike, a Vicini, and the truth is that I fell in love with the sport. It wasn’t just me. My older sister, Alice, also competed for a while. But she eventually gave up. I started with the Pedale Morbegnese school until, at the age of fourteen, I switched to the Trevigliese Cycling School in Bergamo. A much larger team, with more calendar, where I was four years before moving to EOLO KOMETA.”  Now the dream of becoming a professional cyclist has become a reality, thanks to the strength of everyday work that has led him to achieve very important results in the U23 category (5th at the last Tour de l’Avenir, Italian time trial champion, 10th at the Giro d’Italia), thanks to the will of someone who has always seen himself among the “greats” of cycling wearing this jersey. “I am delighted – said Davide – as only a person who dreamed of this moment since he was a child can be delighted. For me, cycling has always been a beautiful game, which I met by chance: I was 10 years old, and in the square of my village there was an event where children could try some sport. There were little bikes, and a course to ride: I got on the bike, and I didn’t want to get off. I remember telling my mom right away that I wanted to do that, that I wanted to do it seriously. She made contact with a company close to home, but by then it was summer and we would talk about it later in September: we left for the beach, and that was the longest vacation of my life, because I couldn’t wait to come back and start cycling. When I’m not biking, I like to listen to music, I love the Pinguini Tattici Nucleari, and go for walks with my friends. Whenever I can, I treat myself to pizza: as a good Italian, it’s my favorite dish.”
