Tommaso Bessega

U23

The Cantabrians Diego (1994) and Pablo Noriega (1995), in the first season of existence of the U23 structure of the Contador Foundation, are the previous and only precedent in terms of two brothers in the same squad. It is obligatory to refer to this circumstance, already reflected in the biography of his brother Gabriele, also in Tommaso’s profile. It is not clear which of the two is the elder, said his brother Gabriele, as their birth was by caesarean section. What is certain is that they both fell in love with cycling thanks to their father Roberto’s great love of cycling, a recurrent cyclist and a regular on the routes near the family home in the Lombardy town of Samarate, south of Gallarate and northwest of Busto Arsizio. Tommaso Bessega also has a footballing background shared with his brother, although in his case playing in defence for Vanzaghello. His cycling career has gone hand in hand with his brother’s: a first experience with San Macario in the town of the same name, near Samarate, and later with Unione Ciclistica Bustese Olonia. Tommaso has been one of the most outstanding riders of the U23 team during 2023, with a very consistent season full of good results and that had its culmination in the stage victory in the final stage of the Vuelta Ciclista a Zamora. Tommaso also achieved prestigious positions in other stages of the Vuelta Ciclista a Zamora, the Vuelta Ciclista a Salamanca and the Trofeo Caduti de Nerviano.
