The Slovakian youth Samuel Novák faces his jump to the U23 category with the EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team. The cyclist from Bratislava (January 10, 2005), seventh rider who promotes from the juvenile field for the project 2024, is the first athlete of this nationality that will compete in the ranks of the Contador Foundation.

Novák, who has competed these two seasons with Borgo Molino Vigna Fiorita, has obtained very interesting results in the Italian 2023 calendar, with victories in the Coppa Montes in Monfalcone, in the Trofeo Ottavio Bottechia in Aviano or in the Vittorio Veneto-Cansiglio.

“I started cycling when I was nine years old. I entered this world thanks to my father, Miroslav, who practised it and competed at Slovak level”, he explains. “I consider myself what in Italy they call a ‘pasita’, but first and foremost I am a team rider: at Borgo Molino I have worked for our fast men all season long”.

Novák brings his fondness for orographically challenging routes, where he believes he can contribute and hone his qualities: “I like climbs a lot, in general. I tend to adapt well to hard and demanding races and the harder they are, the better I end up doing”.

“We think that Samuel, with his good climbing skills and his speed, is a rider who in his first year can bring us very interesting things. In general, we incorporate high quality young riders and, in his case, he has the added bonus of a whole year doing exclusively the Italian calendar, where the competition is enormous, and commitments with the national team. His starting point for the new category, therefore, is good”, comments Rafa Díaz Justo, who will be his director.
