Sergio García fights on the climbs of the GP Lugano: the KOM classification is his

GP Città di Lugano
Lugano – Lugano (179,2 km; 8 x22,4)

It wasn’t a trivial race, it wasn’t an easy race, it wasn’t a race for everyone. The climbs that surround the city of Lugano, a jewel nestled between the mountains of Switzerland that are reflected in its lake, have made the 74th edition of the GP Città di Lugano a complicated day for the whole group. To complete the work and to make everything even more difficult there was the heat, which relentlessly exhausted the riders from the first to the last kilometer.

In the end Moscon won, with the Italian rider of the Ineos team able to arrive alone on the lakefront after detaching the three breakaway companions, gone away from the group at the beginning of the last lap. But, and this is a beautiful habit of the last months, there has been space for a lot of EOLO-KOMETA. To take it was our Sergio García, who was the protagonist of the escape of the day (10 riders escaped immediately after the start and reabsorbed three laps from the end, never more than 3 minutes of advantage). The Spanish rider was able to precede everyone on the KOM, thus conquering the classification of the climbers on the podium of Lugano.

To conclude the beautiful day for the blue jerseys, to signal the good performance of Ropero arrived with the first group of the pursuers.

Sergio García: “I think it was a good day for me and for the team: the objective was to enter in the breakaway of the day and I managed to leave with the group of attackers. The second goal was to sprint to win the KOM classification, and I managed to do that too: then, I went back to the group and the only goal was to get to the finish line to enjoy the podium. Mission accomplished…”.
