The Oldani stagiare and the persevering Seville, highlighted in a centennial

Coppa Bernocchi
Legnano-Legnano (198 km)

“It wasn’t my best day”, laments Matteo Moschetti. The Italian sprinter, nine victories in this season, arrived as the great trump card of Polartec-Kometa for the 100th edition of the prestigious Coppa Bernocchi, the second of the three races of the Lombard triptych and perhaps the most favourable for the volata of all. But the Lombard, who had had very good training in the previous days, ended up retiring after being cut off in one of the steps by the climb to Morazzone.

Retired Moschetti was his compatriot Stefano Oldani who took the baton to give presence to Polartec-Kometa in the foreseeable final finish to the sprint. The Italian Sonny Colbrelli (Bahrain Merida) won for the second consecutive year, and with great sufficiency. Oldani, for his part, and after many kilometres of work for Moschetti, finished in the twenty-eighth final position. Great work of the Milanese, stagiaire with the team since the last Vuelta a Hungría.

Diego Pablo Sevilla was another of the most outstanding members of the team, with a persevering search for the escape of the day that did not materialize. “I was happy”, said the Spaniard. “The sensations have been good. From the start we went to the limit, we struggled to get into the breakaway, but it couldn’t have been. I didn’t feel bad at all, I’ve been holding the steps of the mountain Grand Prix well. Although in the end I was already doing something long and tried to help Oldani in the final urban circuit with everything I had”.

“Sevilla has been very good, trying to get into the leak and then, when it had been formed, giving a hand to Oldano in the final”, praises the director Jesus Hernandez, after what has been the last race of the continental team in its first season of life.
