47 Vuelta Ciclista a Ávila
Del 7 al 9 de julio

The Vuelta a Ávila is back, a little phrase with a bit of alliteration and a lot of good news. In 2023 it will be 75 years since its creation as a race, back in 1948, and the Club Deporabula CDF has set its sights on recovering it and celebrating the milestone with an edition that will be the 47th. Avila is a land of cyclists, of cycling. Of heroic deeds, mountain passes and great champions. That is why this Tour is as special as it is important.

Edoardo Alleva, Gabriele Bessega, Tomaso Bessega, Haimar Etxeberria, Sebastiano Minoia and Andrea Montoli make up the team with which the Contador Foundation will take part in the race. Etxeberria returns to competition after recovering from a broken collarbone suffered in the Momparler Memorial. “We are back to competition after a fracture during which we have had some bad moments, a lot of rehabilitation, days without being able to do anything… We have finally been able to string together two or three good weeks of work and it’s time to get back to normality in this year that has not been very normal. In the end we have done a good job, we will give 100% of what we have in our legs and we will go home very happy with the result and the fact of being able to come back”.

The organisers are proposing three stages in which the orographic aspect will be crucial, especially on the last day, which will go deep into the Sierra de Gredos with the passage through the Puertos de Mijares, Pedro Bernardo, Serranillos and Morisco. A queen stage by all accounts, with almost 3,000 metres of elevation gain in less than 130 kilometres. On the first day, the climb to Riofrío may select the finish in the streets of Ávila, with a steep climb at the end. The terrain will be very steep on Saturday, with a pass through the Puerto de Guisando to manage.
