54º Tour du Limousin
Stage 3: Bugeat Espace 1000 Sources – Lubersac (184,2 km)

A stage run like this: always in front, always on the attack, always head up. That’s how EOLO-KOMETA must always run. Third stage of Tour du Limousin, won by Simone Velasco (Gazprom) who was able to sprint at 3 km from the finish line breaking away from his two breakaway companions to arrive alone. And one of the three protagonists of the decisive action was just our Luca Wackermann, at the end third, able to fight for the victory.

As always, it is our DS Stefano Zanatta to tell us how it went: “Battle, from the beginning to the end. For half of the race there was a group of about sixty riders with three of ours – Albanese, Gavazzi and Wackermann – and then at 40 from the end there was an attack that isolated first ten riders, then six. With them Wackermann, who was finally able to fight for the win as he could always do. Alba then won the sprint of the group, and with him Gavazzi: the others arrived detached, the young riders are struggling a bit”.

Luca Wackermann: “It was a chaotic stage, all day on my stomach. At 60 km from the arrival I moved with Velasco and two other riders to take the breakaway of the day: we went full throttle until the arrival. Unfortunately in the final Velasco escaped me, I had to make the long sprint and only on the finish line he beat me Geschke. But I’m still happy: the victory was within my reach, I knew that today was a suitable stage and for this reason I saved my leg yesterday. Today’s day gives me morale. Tomorrow is another day and it will be a nervous stage. The team is there… we’ll see”.

Tomorrow, last stage: from Sauviat-sur-Vige to Limoges with 169,7 km all to follow.
