The U23 team of the Contador Foundation will not take the start in the Vuelta a Madrid as a precaution

33º Vuelta a Madrid
From July 21 to 25

The EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team U23 will not take part in the Vuelta a Madrid which will be held from Wednesday July 21 to Sunday 25. The amateur structure of the Contador Foundation has taken this decision as a precaution, after two members of the expedition who were going to be present in the race have tested positive in the antigen tests that, as an internal control, are carried out periodically among the members of the staff and the team.

The Vuelta Ciclista a Madrid, on its return to the calendar as an U23 race, had become a very important objective for the team. Promoted by the Federación Madrileña de Ciclismo, the race is reborn with a varied five-stage route where there will be opportunities for all profiles, from time trialists to climbers.

This voluntary resignation is an exercise of responsibility on the part of the team while awaiting the results of the PCR tests to which the whole expedition will be subjected. The Vuelta a Madrid had become one of the main objectives of the season given the Madrid status of the Contador Foundation, based in Pinto. Therefore, the squad led by Rafa Díaz Justo went with a strong team composed of Joan Martí Bennassar, Arnau Gilabert, Álex Martín, David Martín, Davide Piganzoli, Fernando Tercero and Yago Segovia.
