O Gran Camiño (2.1)
Stage 2: Tui - A Guarda / Monte Trega (184km)

A day of undeniable protagonism and good results for EOLO KOMETA in O Gran Camiño. The breakaway of Mattia Bais, in the front group for more than 140 kilometres, was joined by a move at the right time by Gavazzi to score mountain points in Cruz da Portela.

The whole team helped Fortunato to be protected and perfectly positioned, who entered the final climb to Monte Trega in leading positions. He rode against the big climbers, while Vingegaard (Jumbo Visma) took the win and the lead of the race. Our Fortunato finished seventh, the same position in the general classification, and maintains great options for the remaining two days.

Lorenzo Fortunato: “On the final climb we were in front, my team-mates supported me and helped me in the key moments of the stage. The truth is i suffered a little bit in the final part but we have achieved a good result and we will try to improve it tomorrow”.

Jesús Hernández: “I am very satisfied with the overall performance. Presence in the breakaway, riding together at the back and protecting Fortunato. Everyone made sacrifices at the time. Fortu arrived at the start of the last climb with every chance of doing well and seventh place is a good position, also to give confidence for tomorrow in a finish that is much better suited to him. The attitude and commitment of everyone is to be appreciated”.
