A top-20 for Gabriele Raccagni in the first race of the year in Italy

99ª Coppa San Geo (1.12)
Ponte San Marco – San Felice del Benaco (159,8 km)

A top-20 finish in the volley that resolved the 2023 edition of San Geo to start the other great competitive front of the U23 structure of the Foundation. Gabriele Raccagni finished eighteenth this Saturday in the centenary race, first appointment in Italian territory for the U23 structure of the Contador Foundation this year. The victory went to Davide Persico (Colpack) for the second time in his career.

For the quintet, led on this occasion by Gorka Beloki, it was an incident-filled first commitment. “It was a very crazy race, with a lot of tension and a lot of crashes. Alleva, Minoia and García were involved in some of them, but in general terms the team did well”, said Beloki.

Raccagni changed bikes due to a breakdown and was able to be reintroduced into the group before the final climb to Cisano made by the selection. “I would have liked to fight at least to be in the top ten in the final sprint that we did with about twenty riders, but I came out a little bit behind in the last corner”.
