Water, water, water. The wet Bernocchi is by Evenepoel
104 Coppa Bernocchi
Legnano – Legnano (197,1 km)
The only dry thing about today’s day is this chronicle, because the race really does tell its story in a moment. Usually the Bernocchi is a terrain for the sprinters, but the cloudburst that fell on the route from the first to the last meter messed up everything and prepared the ground for a breakaway that took shape at the first passage on the Piccolo Stelvio: Battistella, Masnada, Evenepoel, Puppio, Pinot, Covi immediately made a void with the group that let it go. At 30 km from the end, Evenepoel decided to say goodbye to the company and leave to cross the finish line alone.
Tomorrow we’ll be back in the saddle for the Tre Valli Varesine: a race rich in tradition, the departure will be from the headquarters of our main sponsor Eolo S.p.A., a territory close to our team and in love with cycling. And unfortunately, the weather forecasts that do not bode well…
Vincenzo Albanese: “There’s not much to say: Evenepoel is a phenomenon, I’ve seen few riders so strong. When he decides to break away from you, he does it without problems: it’s incredible. I’m fine, I feel great: tomorrow at the Tre Valli I’d really like to do something good”.
Edward Ravasi: “Running in this weather is not nice and it’s not easy either, running against a phenomenon like Evenepoel is even more complicated. These races, especially tomorrow’s Tre Valli, are my home races: it would be nice to do something…”.
