Welcome Alessandro!

The EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team is proud to welcome to the team Alessandro Fedeli, who will make his debut with our team at the Italian Championships next Sunday. Fedeli had started the season with Gazprom and was therefore left without a contract: a signing, his, that manifests the team’s desire to grow by focusing on the talent of young riders and their desire.

ALESSANDRO FEDELI: “To say that I am delighted is reductive, I wanted with all my strength to close this very bad period and return to racing and to have arrived at EOLO-KOMETA is something that goes beyond all expectations. I had already given up on this season and instead, here I am: I want to fit into this team right away, considering that I will be here next year as well. Everything was born a bit by chance: Zanatta had been looking for me but we were talking about next year, then there was the problem with Gazprom and I insisted on starting right away. Ivan Basso was very willing and we decided to start from this year: I am very well, I had a really good winter and I have an important base. Then, I was stopped six months so I’ve recovered… I expect to do well right away, usually the second part of the season is the one I prefer and the one in which I ride the strongest.”

FRAN CONTADOR General Manager EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team: “Alessandro is a very important reinforcement for our team. He is a valuable rider who was in a complicated situation, as were all his colleagues at Gazprom: we as a team had the responsibility to give him the opportunity to get back into the swing of things.”

IVAN BASSO Sport Manager EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team: “Welcome to a rider who has very good qualities, a rider we were already monitoring for next season. Given the situation there was an acceleration, but we had still decided to bet on him: he is a quality rider who adds value and growth to our team. In the first talks we had I really liked his desire and was impressed by his sporting hunger.”

ALESSANDRO FEDELI (March 2, 1996)

He started cycling with the jersey of Ausonia CSI Pescantina, then moved as an Under 23 first to Colpack and then to Trevigiani: in this category he won two stages at the Giro della Valle d’Aosta, a GP Liberazione and an Edil C Trophy. He turned pro in 2019 with Delko and found success in his first pro race by winning the first stage of the Tour du Rwanda. In 2020 he wins the final stage of the Tour du Limousin, and in 2022 his move to Russian Gazprom is announced.
