Zanatta: “Very high level, difficult to do more”

Vuelta a Burgos (2.PRO)
Stage 5: Lerma – Lagunas de Neila (170km)

A Vuelta a Burgos closes that for EOLO-KOMETA represented a return to racing after a month’s stop, in a competition whose level was made very high by the many World Tour formations that arrived to prepare for the Vuelta. It’s hard to expect success or star days, in a race that served riders like Fortunato to return to the peloton and Fedeli to get to know his new team a little better still.

Today the Vuelta a Burgos was decided with the final stage that saw the success of Joao Almeyda while Pavel Sivakov took the general classification. In the last stage, on the final climb, Fortunato kept the pace of the best until a few kilometers from the end. “Today,” said ds Stefano Zanatta, “a breakaway went away immediately with a group of riders including our Fedeli, but the group did not let up and especially the EF sewed up the disadvantage. Then our goal was to bring Fortunato to the foot of the last climb, he was with the best until 2 km from the finish then when they accelerated in front he broke away. We knew that his condition is not the best and that he came here to work. I am happy with the attitude shown by the team, but the level here was really very high and it was hard to think of doing more.”
